Bio The Compelling Works of Patrick Byers, In his minds eye. Where one world ends and another begins. We as artists ride the gate ways to both worlds, it's a necessity, like breathing and fucking. Born and raised, in and around the port city of Saint John, New Brunswick Canada. Patrick moved around place to place like a gypsy while growing up. Encountering and befriending many different types of people that would influence, encourage and inspire the artist he has become today. Patrick Byers' work ranges from wooden sculptures to his main focus, digitally enhanced dark photography. Patrick was born in 1971 and raised in a tar papered shed with dirt floors, no electricity or plumbing. His second home was sold to his uncles friend Noel Winter. Winters was one of New Brunswicks most grisly serial killers and used the basement to bury his victims.Patrick spent much of his childhood alone. Tormented by vivid nightmares he would often sketch to translate the terrifying images he saw in his mind. In 1995 he elected to major in photography and computer graphic design. Leaving school a year early, he did freelance photography, 3-D animation, film and dabbled in a variety of other mediums to hone and perfect his style. In the process, his nightmares became the subject matter of his art. By 2005 he had compiled a vast portfolio of images and participated in gallery shows from the New Brunswick Memorial Hall gallery to the H.R. Giger museum in Switzerland, and received international exposure in Heavy Metal, Virus Magazine and Insidious Reflections. In his spare time Patrick enjoys creating art to help support local youth centers and other charitable associations in his home Province. His art has graced the album covers of Dead Element, Psychonaut75, Krista D, murals, and a limited edition skateboard. Patrick drove an 81 flat black Camero with a spray painted skull on the hood. In retaliation of it's repeated attempts on his life, through the brakes giving way and the transmission dropping out on the highway.. he had his revenge in the form of a bat.
